Take a stand : Abortion should be legalized in Korea.

My Take a Stand topic is: Abortion should be legalized in Korea. HOWEVER, before I begin with giving out 3 reasons, I should point out one thing. Korea's constitutional law allows abortion, but to limited circumstances only, and they are the following: - If the baby possesses genetic deficiency that would lead to mental or physical illness. - If the baby possesses infectious disease genes; - If the mother is a rape victim; - If the parents are blood relatives and - If the consistency of pregnant may harm (or has the possibility to harm) the health of the mother. I've been thinking that the door is not opened wide enough, not applicable to current situation. (Don't get me wrong.) Since a lot of irresponsible people get the fetus removed under the shades of the law, I came up with 2 conditions. Here are the 3 supporting reasons for my stand. 1. Life is becoming harder in Korea. Even you've been blessed with having a baby, it might be a burden due to financia

Assignment#4 Gender

Why do you think Korea’s gender equality statistics are so low?  Do you think they will change much in the foreseeable future? Do you think gender ‘equality’ should be the goal? I think it's something to do with Korean's perception regarding gender and its differences. Although Korea has been influenced by Western cultures, still, Korea is full of conservatives. When I say "conservatives", it isn't limited to middle aged or elderly but goes beyond generations. Most Koreans aged more than 60 have firm belief that men do better than women. They are like sponge soaked into water, which is sexual discrimination. Even old women thinks it is universal truth that themselves are inferior to men. Parent's understanding naturally affects their children's education. How is 30s to 40s' conviction to gender equality? If their parents had intense opinion, maybe some inherited view of their parents', while some embraced a part, and the rest totally did not.

Assignment#3 : Stress

What were the most stressful periods of your life? WARNING! LONG STORY. There were several downs in my life but I guess 2016 was the most terrible year I have had. I got into a shipping company even before graduation. As a maritime university graduate student, I preferred to work in shipping industry. However, I've forgotten one thing: The people in this field are very, very conservative. I went to a business trip to China with co-worker last April. He is a married man and I had good impression on him. However, that didn't go any longer because he sexually harassed me. Both in words, and in action. He was totally drunk and good thing I wasn't. I should have immediately reported to the supervisor in head office. But I was afraid for he didn't remember any. Even if I confront him, he would completely ignore me. And I got no proofs at all. Instead of let him realize, I told him not to drink that much. Without knowing what he did, he got lost in the sauce a

Assignment #2

My reflection  after watching a video of myself answering the question: "What makes you angry? Why?" When I was grade 7, I had first experience of answering question with a time limit. It was impromptu speech. I was asked to pick a paper from a jar which about 30 rolled questions were inside and I do still remember the question - "Do you share your happiness and sadness with your beloved ones?" I finished my speech quite successfully, considering I had straight fright. My face turned red, and I couldn't make eye contact with my classmates, so I just stared at the clock hanging at the back of the classroom. Again, it's time for a speech. A gap of 5 years not practicing English was a disaster. For I am aware of my quality of speech, seeing myself in video was like uhmm..... I'm doing this because it's an assignment! Yes I should evaluate myself in a KIND way... Anyway, here goes cynical observation. 1. Grammatical error ex. more happier, te

News Article # 1

http://edition.cnn.com/2017/03/10/europe/pope-married-men-priests/index.html Since I know everyone is going to post about impeachment of Park, I will deal with totally different issue. The above link is the news about Pope Francis' idea about opening a married man becoming a priest. As a Roman Catholic, this is kind of shocking news, because this is UNBELIEVABLE. I completed my primary and secondary education in a Catholic School in Philippines. One thing I admired with the priests was that they give up their marriage to serve God, including reproduction. And to be honest, I had pride in those celibated priests telling my Protestant friends that Catholic and Protestant are totally different although both came from same root. I don't think it's proper for a married man becoming a priest even with the wife's permission. My Catholic  teachers taught me that sex is the highest expression of love between married couple. Then what's happening to married priest's ma
